GWS A10 Warthog, With Twin EDF-50 Power Systems
Known as the Warthog because of its unusual shape, the A-10 is the first Air Force jet specially designed for close ground support. Its armed with Maverick and Sidewinder missiles and 30mm Gatling guns that can fire nearly 4000 rounds a minute. It comes in "low and slow", allowing it to sneak up on ground targets like tanks and other armored vehicles. And, since first being deployed in 1976, the A-10 has proven a formidable foe against forces in the Gulf War and currently in Afghanistan.
